About Gizmo

I've written software for many years. In the last few years I've gravitated towards developing typescript apps that run entirely in the browser, because typescript is a cool, feature-rich language and browsers these days can run just about any kind of application. Moreover, they are easy to build and cheap to deploy. Because each of these apps runs exclusively in your browser, there is no server side database or application code, which means they are super cheap to host. Hence, I can offer them to you to use for free.

Technology Stack

All Gizmo applications are built with some amazing open source tools:

• TypeScript: For type-safe code
• React: For building user interfaces
• Zustand: For state management
• Dexie: For client-side storage using IndexedDB
• Material UI: For consistent, responsive design
• Vite: For fast development and optimized builds

Deployment

Each application is deployed to its own subdomain:

• app.gizmocms.com: Main directory (this website)
• plan.gizmocms.com: Planning application
• draw.gizmocms.com: Drawing application
• retire.gizmocms.com: Retirement planning application
